There is often an incredible amount of inventory available for rental properties at any given time – leaving people overwhelmed when trying to narrow down their search.

Being a boom town, or heavily based in industry and services, many just default and run with a condo or single attached home. Without really thinking about the many advantages of renting or leasing a townhome in Fort McMurray. This article is going to give you seven reasons you should rent a townhome and try the lifestyle for yourself.

Weighing the needs between space needed for toys, kids, pets, trucks… or just convenient easily compartmental lifestyle needs.

These advantages may just forever inspire you to never leave a townhouse ever again!

The advantages of a Townhouse

Single family homes or apartments/condos for rent, maybe just aren’t as flexible or as desirable as you would think.

Townhomes, in our opinion, offer the immediate benefit of single-family homes space and outdoor access, but cut down on the responsibilities of much of the care and maintenance a house would require daily and weekly.

Townhomes are LESS work, no matter how you look at it!

  1. Landscaping or lack thereof. You often only have a very minimal amount of snipping or shoveling to do at any seasonal interval.

If you have fenced in yards (which come springtime in Hangingstone Point) there may be minimal required lawn care. For those townhomes elsewhere, without fencing, you can sit back and watch the grass grow. Its no longer your responsibility.

When you choose to rent a unit with a fenced yard, you do get added privacy and space for your family and/or pets.

You will see that your lifestyle remains at its most flexible (like a condo) but with the comforts of a home.

  1. The Amenities

Many complexes come with certain amenities you just wouldn’t get with a home. Condos will have amenities limited to the four-walls of its structure. With townhomes, its usually an entire complex containing parks, walk ways, community spaces, etc.

The benefits of townhome living go beyond recreational amenities. Utilities like pest control, trash services, and HVAC inspections also typically become easier to manage and less of your problem, especially in the case of pest control.

  1. Location, location, location

More often than not, townhouses sit in dense and convenient locations. These developments are usually situated near vibrant establishments, offering ample choices for entertainment, dining, and shopping. Some townhomes can also be within walking distance to schools and parks. In this way, townhouse living suits virtually everyone — childless or otherwise.

In our example here, boasting the location and convenience of being so close to the highway, right off of Abasand and about five minutes or so from just about all of your average daily necessities, is a crowd pleaser!

  1. Value for Money

Townhouses provide great value for money. Townhomes have been shown to be more affordable than single-family homes. In fact, they are a cheaper option almost every time in comparison to standalone homes.Savings pic 1

Additional to that, you don’t have to pay staggering utility bills when you live in a townhome. Due to the compressed design, some shared walls and in the case of new builds, eco-friendly building specs. Ask most townhome renters or home-owners and they will often be quick to say it’s wise to rent a townhome.

  1. Developing Community

Personally speaking, what we feel is truly a defining feature of townhome living is community, where everyone has a shared sense of pride and belonging, but none of the gruff. Townhomes generally have shared walls, which means residents live closer to one another and often interact more frequently than home owners.

You avoid the often jarring and irritating noises of those living in stacked condos or apartment buildings as well. Where noise literally comes from all directions and you know your neighbour’s favourite series on Netflix.

Living in a single-detached house, you are somewhat more isolated. Only really passing a waving hand or smile to your smile, the odd greeting. You do have to go outside the easily developed bubble of porch, garage and jumping into your vehicle to get to work or errands.

With townhouses, you have several people living within a short distance from you. You see them in communal spaces and events as well. Living in such a way almost guarantees a friend network of neighbours.

  1. Convenient Senior living

Townhomes for rent, can provide the aging population autonomy and stress free living that keeps them from possibly injuring themselves or having too much maintainance that can put a strain on health.

Walkable pathways, near by friends combined with no slipping on ice when trying to tackle the heavy Alberta snowfall, can be an absolute blessing for those that are enjoying their elder years in Fort McMurray.

  1. Siding, roofs and external maintenance

Typically, townhouses are managed by property management companies. Paint jobs or external fixtures fixes, the management has got you covered.

The process of application can be found in the bylaws of the community. Normally, though, a formal application needs to be put forth. However, you can rest assured that the job is usually done quickly and without much hassle.

Townhouse, Single-Family House, Condos!

We reference it several times and you may not be entirely clear what these terms mean. A single-family house is a residential building that doesn’t rely on another structure for support. In other words, it’s free-standing. Alternative terms for this also include single-detached house or a standalone house.

Townhouse or townhome, is a residential building that shares one or more walls with other units of its kind. Though not mandatory, most townhouses usually sport a uniform look or design and consist of two or more floors.

Condos/condominiums or apartments are defined as a building structure divided into several units that are each separately owned, surrounded by common areas that are jointly owned.
